Frontierland
Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom captures the spirit of the American Old West, transporting guests to a time of pioneers, cowboys, and gold rush towns. Open since the park’s opening day in 1971, Frontierland is designed to feel rugged and adventurous, with dusty pathways, wooden storefronts, and sweeping views of the Rivers of America. A fun fact is that the original plans for Frontierland included a massive expansion called "Thunder Mesa," which would have housed a runaway mine train and multiple other attractions. Although Thunder Mesa was never built exactly as planned, its spirit lived on through the creation of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, one of the most beloved roller coasters in Disney history. Frontierland also features Country Bear Jamboree, one of the last attractions personally approved by Walt Disney, which combines music, humor, and a touch of rustic charm.

Opening in 1973, the island invited visitors to step into the adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Becky Thatcher, bringing the spirit of 19th-century American childhood to life. A fun fact is that the original Disneyland version of Tom Sawyer Island was personally designed by Walt Disney himself, who sketched the layout based on his own boyhood memories. At the Magic Kingdom, the island’s winding paths, secret passageways, and hand-powered rafts offered a rare, self-guided adventure that encourages imagination and discovery at every turn.
